Our Services

Yacht delivery

We are meticulous in our attention to detail. We take time to work with clients in understanding their expectations and on planning the trip. On joining a vessel our crews spend at least 24 hours, even for short passages, checking all the boat's systems and in general preparation before setting out.

Prior to departure vulnerable areas of the interior are covered and protected. During the passage your boat is sailed conservatively at all times so that any wear and tear is kept to an absolute minimum.

We organise every aspect of the trip and there is no need for a formal handover from the owner or his representative.

For safety reasons our minimum crewing level for all passages is three, although for ocean voyages we insist on a complement of four. To support the Skipper all vessels carry a Yachtmaster qualified First Mate.

Our pricing is as inclusive as possible and covers the provision of all crew together with their direct costs, such as travel and food, as well as charts and almanacs etc. if these are not already on board.

We can also supply EPIRB's and Iridium satellite telephones for a modest rental.

Owners are welcome to join the crew for all delivery trips and, of course, we can provide support crew at all levels of experience for an owner who wishes to skipper a passage himself.

On completion of all deliveries we complete a detailed assessment of the vessel and its systems so that owners have a complete picture of their boat's condition and are able to immediately put in hand any repairs or modifications that may be necessary.

We never forget how important your boat is to you and ensure that you are kept informed of progress at every stage of the passage.

New Boat Deliveries

We are recommended by many of the leading boat builders and have developed an unrivalled understanding of the special requirements in this field. Our experience means that we can help liaise with the owner, yard and broker to ensure that new boat sales and deliveries proceed as smoothly as possible.

In particular we can organise and provide necessary safety items, help with VAT etc. and provide recommendations on the specification and installation of equipment. We can undertake handover with, or on behalf of, the owner, checking condition and inventory at a time when the boat may seem new and unfamiliar.

In 2005, we delivered brand new yachts from Hallberg-Rassy, Sweden Yachts, Najad, X-Yachts, Beneteau, Jeanneau, Fountaine Pajot, Lagoon, Swan and Wauquiez - a pedigree which we believe speaks for itself. Indeed, we are frequently entrusted with the delivery of manufacturers' exhibition yachts to the World's boat shows.

With all new boats we routinely tape and protect all vulnerable areas and cover upholstery etc. to ensure that vessels arrive in 'as new' condition at the end of the delivery voyage.

Skippers

We regularly provide skippers to assist owners and their families, who may be inexperienced, in becoming accustomed to a new yacht or require help with an extended or arduous voyage.

Instructors and Own Boat Tuition

Several of our regular Skippers are also qualified and experienced RYA Yachtmaster Instructors, who can provide tuition and support to owners and crews in the familiar environment of their own boat.

We can also organise formal training and certification up to Coastal Skipper level, including the ICC.

Mates

We offer thoroughly vetted Mates, qualified to Yachtmaster standard, to assist skipper/owners, perhaps during the course of an extended cruise, where it is helpful to have an experienced and reliable individual on board for maintenance, gardiennage and general crewing duties.

Problem Solving

If mechanical problems develop when you are cruising offshore it can be a logistical nightmare trying to source and ship spares and skills out to your boat.

With our contacts and specialist experience at pyd we are able to help locate both materials and technicians, including flying out our own specialists if required, to minimise down time.

Owners can call on our services at any time for an immediate and cost effective response.

VAT and Importation

We can help with arrangements for VAT mitigation and other clearances. Our experience in this area regularly leads to substantial savings on importation into the EU - particularly on high value vessels.

Administrative Support

We do not leave skippers or owners to operate unsupported. On the contrary we centrally manage every contract and are placed to give advice and assistance in all circumstances, whether they be with regard to weather, routing, Customs, or technical questions.
Our support office functions 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
